Hudson United Methodist Nursery School

Classrooms
A warm and friendly environment for the student's first learning experience. Students can feed the class fish, have hands on experience with real tools, use the classroom computer for educational games or develop their skills with our writing and math centers. Classes also have the opportunity to use our interactive Smart Board in the library.
Gym
When the weather does not allow outside playtime, students go to the large gym. There they burn off energy and work on gross motor skills playing with balls, tricycles, and wagons. The unstructured play time also provides opportunities to socialize with peers, practice turn-taking, and cooperate with friends to build with blocks.
Playground
HUMNS has a large outdoor playground to use when the weather is reasonable. Students get fresh air and use their gross motor skills on the swings, slides, and monkey bars. They can also use their imaginations and social skills to engage in pretend play in the playground’s pretend houses.
Library
When preschool students visit the HUMNS library, they get to enjoy listening to a story told by their teacher or parent volunteer. Then, every child has the chance to check out a book from the library’s collection of picture books, chapter books, and board books, with a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles. Books can be taken home and then returned the next school day. The students also engage in free play, using fine motor skills and strategic thinking skills to put together puzzles, strategic thinking and socialization skills to play a board game, or imaginations and social skills to create puppet shows. The library also provides a wonderful opportunity for parents or other special people to volunteer at the school.
